Kandy city tour

Some aspects of the art and agriculture of Kandy still survive in the living form, illuminating for us ion a way that literary descriptions and ruined monuments cannot do, the style and character of Sri Lankan civilization.

Nestled amidst verdant hills, interspersed by the Mahaweli River and the beautiful Kandy as a centrepiece, Kandy is certainly the most picturesque city in the island and most visited. The last seat of the  Sinhalese kings, who ceded power to the British in 1815 after many a battle with the western colonial forces, still retains much of its old-world charm and traditions, crafts and the typical Sri Lankan way of life.

Kandy was Sri Lanka's final capital city when it was a kingdom. The architecture and atmosphere of the city exude a certain majesty unmatched in any other city in the country.

High Country city tours

Situated in the south-central part of the island, the central highlands comprising the peak wilderness protected area (called Maha Eliya) National Park and the Knuckles Conservation forest have been declared a natural world heritage site.  These mountain forests, where the land area rises 2500 meters above the sea level, are home to an extraordinary range of flora and fauna, including several endangered species such as the Horton Plains slender Loris and the Sri Lankan Leopard. The region considered as super biodiversity hotspot.

Mesmerizing the locals as well as our visitors from foreign lands, the high country, rises from 3000 ft to over 8000 ft. and will surround you with velvety green freshness year around. The approach, whether by road or rail, is through narrow passes, deep ravines, gushing streams and waterfalls. The gentle sprawling rubber plantation, fragrant spice gardens, to cool emerald hills, carpeted with the world famous Ceylon Tea.

Colombo city tour

Sri Lanka’s commercial capital is an interesting blend of the varying influences, it has seen for more than 600 years. Its importance as a trading port increased after the arrival of the Portuguese to the island in the early 16th Century.

Colombo continued to grow under the  Dutch and British, and today shows the marked influence of all those cultures from the Islamic mosques, the Catholic, Dutch Reformed and Anglican churches. The Dutch colonial style of architecture is very much evidence, as are the special quarters for separate trades in the Colombo Fort and Pettah area.

Colombo is considered a shopper's paradise with a fine selection of local malls, Sri Lankan arts and handicrafts. Explore the world-famous streets of Pettah where you can find just about anything you want, from mobile phones and electronics to clothes and books.

Ancient Cities (Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa) - city tours

Documented history of Sri Lanka dates back to 3rd c. B.C. When the island was among the most advanced and developed nation of the pre-modern world and the seat of an important historical civilization in Asia. The ruined cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya extending from 3rd c. B.C to 12 c. A.D record a grandeur unsurpassed.

Sri Lanka’s ancient cities are also the centres of the irrigation works of the past. Massive reservoirs built to collect the rain water, river diversions, giant aqueducts and miles long irrigation channels are proof of a civilization highly developed in the science of irrigation, hydraulics and water management.
